Fashion machine: fashion from the machine

Sell T-shirts, socks or caps in a completely new way. A fashion machine is a marketing stunt and a sales channel at once. Ideal for streetwear brands, sneaker stores or festivals.

Drop it like it's hot

Long a cult thing in Japan and the USA, now here too: fashion vending. The question is how to sell soft clothing in a machine. The solution is tubes or boxes: T-shirts, socks or caps are packed in stackable cans or cartons and dispensed via spirals or lifts. The unpacking becomes a moment for the customer, an effect that brands like Uniqlo have long used. A fashion machine is a sales channel and a marketing instrument at once: use it for limited soft drops where you release a collection exclusively through the machine, or as a 24/7 store in front of your shop. At the touchscreen the customer chooses the size (S/M/L) before buying, so you avoid wrong picks without a fitting room.

Fashion & accessories machines: technology and configuration

For selling fashion, the right dispensing technology counts. Large compartments for packaged textiles, a transparent glass front for product presentation, size selection at the touchscreen. Cooling is not needed, room temperature is enough. Our machines offer flexible compartment sizes for T-shirts, socks, caps, scarves or sunglasses. All machines come with telemetry (fill levels, revenue) and a 43–55" touchscreen, where the customer chooses the size and browses the collection. The screen plays third-party advertising or campaign content on standby (DOOH revenue) and can be integrated into the brand design via a full wrap. So the machine becomes a brand ambassador. Fashion machines cost between 4,000 and 9,000 €.

Fashion & accessories machine in use

Streetwear store (soft drop)

A streetwear brand places a fashion machine in front of its store. Through the machine it releases limited soft drops: a collection starts exclusively at the machine, around the clock, without staff. Customers choose the size at the touchscreen, and unboxing the box becomes a social media moment. Telemetry reports when restocking is due.

Airport / station

In a station stands a vyndo fashion machine with a last-minute range: socks in gift boxes, caps, scarves, ponchos. The touchscreen shows sizes and combinations, and brand content runs on standby. Especially in the evening and at the weekend, when shops close, the machine generates revenue. The gross margin is 55–70%.

Festival (rental)

For a festival an organiser rents a fashion machine from vyndo. The machine is wrapped in the festival design and sells band shirts, caps and rain ponchos right on the grounds, without staff, around the clock. After the event the machine is collected again.

Fashion & accessories machine: technology, costs and profitability

The market for fashion in machine sales is growing, because customers expect availability around the clock and a fast buying experience. A fashion machine from vyndo delivers exactly that, and at the same time serves as a marketing channel for limited soft drops. The investment is 4,000–9,000 €. At a gross margin of 55–70% and a high-footfall location, the machine pays for itself in around 6 to 12 months. Running costs: power (fashion needs no cooling, so low), goods purchasing and optionally a SIM card for telemetry. The advantage over classic selling: no staff, no opening hours, no shop rent, plus brand branding via a full wrap and size selection at the touchscreen. Typical locations: streetwear stores, malls, airports, festivals. TSE-compliant under the KassenSichV.

Product requirements and dispensing

Fashion sets its own requirements for packaging and dispensing. Temperature: room temperature, no cooling needed. Soft textiles are packed in cans or boxes so they stack and dispense cleanly via spirals or lifts. Large compartments and a transparent glass front present the goods. Since a fitting room isn't possible, the customer chooses the size at the touchscreen (S/M/L), and one-size products and clear size details work best.

Financing your fashion & accessories machine

You have three options: purchase (4,000–9,000 €), rental from a one-day term or leasing from €99/month. With leasing, the machine ideally finances itself from the ongoing income. The rates are tax-deductible as operating expenses. With rental, maintenance is often included, ideal for getting started or for test phases.

Frequently asked questions about fashion

Can customers try on items?

No. That is why "one-size" products or clear size details (S/M/L) on the touchscreen work best.

How do I package the goods?

We connect you with packaging partners (cans, cartons) that fit our machines.

Does a hoodie fit in?

Yes, in large cans or wide compartments. Winter jackets rather not.

Is the machine lit?

Yes, LED spots set the fashion in scene.

Which payment methods are supported?

Customers pay by Girocard, credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and on request with coins and notes. For the fashion machine we recommend contactless payment as standard, because at locations like streetwear stores, malls and festivals a young audience buys spontaneously and mostly with their smartphone. A fast NFC terminal suits the character of a soft drop, where speed counts. At festivals in particular, where cash is often not carried, card payment secures your revenue. On request we integrate RFID badges at company locations. All machines are TSE-compliant under the KassenSichV, and every booking is recorded tamper-proof. We set up the payment systems to match your location and range.

Do I need a permit for a fashion machine?

On private ground, such as in front of your own store, in the mall or on the festival grounds (by contract with the organiser), you usually need no separate permit. Business registration is required. On public ground you need a special-use permit from the municipality. Since the machine works with a payment function, the TSE requirement under the KassenSichV applies, and our machines meet it from the factory. For textiles, no food hygiene rules apply. Make sure your goods are correctly labelled under the Textile Labelling Regulation. We advise you on the right configuration and brand wrap for your location.

How does remote monitoring work?

Via telemetry software you see fill levels, revenue and machine status in real time on smartphone or desktop. With the fashion machine this is decisive, especially with limited soft drops: you track in real time which sizes and models are selling and see immediately when a popular T-shirt or cap is sold out. So you plan restocking and the next collection based on data. For festival or pop-up use you keep an eye on daily sales without being on site. You also control the campaign content on the brand screen centrally, no matter how many locations your machines stand at. We roll out updates over the air, so an on-site visit is unnecessary.
