Food Vending Machine: the Corner Shop 2.0

In many villages there's no supermarket left. A food vending machine closes this gap: milk, butter, bread, cheese and cold cuts around the clock, cooled and HACCP-compliant. Several vyndo machines together make a small mini supermarket that secures local supply in the town.

Local supply rethought

Municipalities and farmers are urgently looking for solutions for local supply. A single "Regiomat" or a combination of different vyndo machines can replace a mini supermarket. What matters is flexibility: our machines can map different temperature zones or combine different dispensing systems (a lift for yoghurt, a locker for bread/eggs). Customers value being able to quickly grab butter or milk early on a Sunday.

Product range for success

Breakfast

Coffee, milk, cold cuts, eggs, honey.

Supper

Bread, cheese, sausage, pickles.

Emergency

Pasta, pesto, tomato sauce, sweets.

Regional

Products from neighbouring farms (build cooperations!).

Technology for food

We rely on first-in-first-out (FIFO) principles for spirals, so the oldest goods are always sold first. You have to keep records of the best-before date (MHD), and our telemetry app helps you keep track of what was refilled and when.

Funding

Many federal states fund the installation of machines for local supply in rural areas (e.g. "micro-enterprise funding"). Ask your Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) or Chamber of Agriculture.

Food vending machines: technology and configuration

For the automated sale of food you need the right dispensing technology. A lift system for delicate goods, best-before monitoring by software, HACCP-compliant. The temperature requirement is cooled (2–8 °C). Our machines offer flexible compartment sizes that you adapt to your range, whether fresh salads, sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt or ready meals. All machines come with integrated telemetry (stock levels, sales, temperature log) and an optional digital signage display for advertising or product information. Prices for food vending machines range from €5,000–12,000, depending on equipment and size.

The food vending machine in use

Offices

An office without a canteen puts a food vending machine in the break room. Staff buy salads, sandwiches and yoghurt around the clock by card or smartphone. The telemetry reports what's empty. The result: reliable lunch supply without canteen staff and with steady extra sales for the operator.

Hospitals

A hospital runs a vyndo machine with fresh food for staff and visitors. The screen shows nutritional values and allergens directly. Especially at night and at the weekend, when the cafeteria and kiosk are closed, the machine covers demand. The gross margin is 40 to 55 percent.

Universities

A municipality sets up a local-supply station made of several vyndo machines on the village square, cooled and uncooled, supplemented by a locker system for eggs and bread. Early on a Sunday, residents quickly grab milk or butter. This way, the station replaces the missing corner shop and keeps basic supply in the town.

Food vending machine: technology, costs and profitability

A food vending machine is the answer to vanished local suppliers in rural areas. A Regiomat, or a combination of several vyndo machines, becomes a mini supermarket that keeps staple foods available around the clock. What's decisive is flexibility: different temperature zones and dispensing systems can be combined, a lift for yoghurt, a locker for bread and eggs. For fresh goods we use the first-in-first-out principle, so older goods are sold first, and telemetry helps you keep track of the best-before date. Investment costs are 5,000 to 12,000 euros net per machine, and a station of several machines is correspondingly higher. Many federal states fund local-supply machines in rural areas; ask your IHK or Chamber of Agriculture. HACCP-compliant and TSE-compliant under KassenSichV.

Freshness, best-before dates and temperature zones

Fresh food places two demands: constant cooling and best-before control. Our machines cool to 2 to 8 degrees and can be divided into several temperature zones. When refilling, first-in-first-out applies, so older goods go out first. You keep records via the telemetry app of which product was placed in and when. This way you keep the best-before date under control and avoid write-offs.

Financing your food vending machine

You have three options: purchase (€5,000–12,000), rental from a one-day term or leasing from €99/month. With leasing, the machine ideally pays for itself out of ongoing income. The instalments are tax-deductible as operating expenses. With rental, maintenance is often included, ideal for getting started or for test phases.

Frequently asked questions about food vending machines

Can you return deposit bottles?

No, the machines don't take back empties (except special reverse vending machines).

How does Grandma pay?

Cash (coins & notes) is a must in rural areas. Card as a supplement.

Is the machine loud?

No, quiet cooling.

What does such a mini market cost?

A station of 2-3 machines (cooled/uncooled/locker) costs about €20,000 - 30,000.

Which payment methods are supported?

Customers pay with coins and notes as well as by Girocard, credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay. In rural local supply, cash remains important, so that older customers without a card can shop too, which is why the note reader is standard and card payment the supplement. All machines meet the TSE requirement under KassenSichV and record every transaction tamper-proof. This way sales run around the clock without you having to count the till daily or be on site.

What requirements apply to a food vending machine?

On private ground you usually don't need a special permit; on public ground you need a special use permit. For fresh food, the HACCP hygiene requirements are added: the cooling must be maintained continuously and documented, which our machines handle via a digital temperature logbook. You as the operator are responsible for the best-before date and labelling, and telemetry helps you keep track. Inform the responsible food inspection authority. For local-supply machines in rural areas, there are also often funding programmes from the federal states.

How does remote monitoring work?

Via the telemetry app, you see stock levels, sales and cooling temperature of each machine in real time. With a range of milk, sausage and cheese, that's doubly valuable: you see what's running empty, and you're warned if the cooling weakens before goods spoil. With a station of several machines, you keep an eye on all of them centrally. This way you only drive out to refill when it's worth it. We roll out updates over the air.
