Medicine Vending Machine: the 24-Hour Pharmacy
Illness doesn't keep to opening hours. A medicine vending machine extends your pharmacy by two functions: the pickup of pre-ordered medicines via a locked pickup terminal and the sale of over-the-counter products around the clock. Dispensing is temperature-monitored and logged without gaps.

Service when it's urgent
Benefits for pharmacists
Customer loyalty
Whoever gets help at night comes back during the day.
Discretion
Some products customers prefer to buy anonymously at the machine.
Relief
Less queuing for pickup-only customers.
Emergency-service supplement
The machine handles small items, the pharmacist the advice.
Legal notes
The sale of pharmacy-only (but prescription-free) medicines at a machine is permitted in Germany only under strict conditions (within the pharmacy premises or with an option for advice). The sale of non-pharmacy items (supplements, cosmetics, plasters) is unproblematic. The pickup function (visits) is widespread. We advise on the technical implementation, not legal advice.
Branding & design
Full wrapping in your corporate design, an adjustable user interface on the touchscreen. Your machine becomes a brand ambassador.

Hospitals
A hospital sets up a machine in the entrance area. Relatives and patients buy plasters, hygiene items and vitamins around the clock by card or smartphone. The telemetry reports stock level and interior temperature automatically. The result: basic supply without extra staff, at night too.
Care homes
A care home runs a vyndo machine with a range for residents and visitors. The built-in screen shows product info and operating instructions in large, high-contrast form. In the evening and at the weekend, when no kiosk is open, the machine covers demand. The gross margin is 40 to 55 percent.
Doctors' practices
A rural doctor's practice without a pharmacy nearby sets up a machine for over-the-counter products. Patients grab pain gel, nasal spray or test strips right after their appointment. The touchscreen guides through the range and shows usage instructions. This way the machine closes a real supply gap.

Temperature log and secure dispensing
For pharmacy products the rule is: controlled interior temperature and documented dispensing. The machines log the temperature without gaps and stop sales if limits are exceeded. This keeps the effectiveness of the goods provably intact. The dispensing compartment is locked and only opens after a completed transaction, so reaching in is ruled out.

Financing your medicine & pharmacy product machine
You have three options: purchase (€5,000–12,000), rental from a one-day term or leasing from €99/month. With leasing, the machine ideally pays for itself out of ongoing income. The instalments are tax-deductible as operating expenses. With rental, maintenance is often included, ideal for getting started or for test phases.
Frequently asked questions about medicine vending machines
Yes, climate control is standard (cooling and heating in winter).
The dispensing compartment is locked, opens only after goods are dispensed. Reaching in is not possible.
There are modules for it, but the introduction of the e-prescription makes app solutions more sensible.
Depending on range and location, the gross margin is 40 to 55 percent, and at high-footfall locations the machine pays for itself in 6 to 12 months. With a medicine vending machine, the margin depends heavily on what you sell: over-the-counter products like plasters, supplements or hygiene items carry the higher margins, while prescription pickup mainly brings service and customer loyalty. The big lever is the second sales channel around the clock: your machine earns when the pharmacy is closed. The investment is 5,000 to 12,000 euros net. Sales and margin we'll gladly work through for your location concretely; on the legal classification of the range, consult your supervisory authority.
Customers pay cashless by Girocard, credit card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and with cash on request. In the pharmacy environment in particular, contactless payment matters, because many customers avoid cash for hygiene reasons. Every machine meets the TSE requirement under KassenSichV, and all transactions are recorded tamper-proof. RFID cards for defined user groups, such as clinic staff, can additionally be enabled. This makes the machine suitable both for walk-in customers and for closed facilities.
The sale of pharmacy-only but prescription-free medicines via machines is permitted in Germany only under certain conditions, for example within the pharmacy premises or with a connected option for advice. Over-the-counter products like plasters, supplements or cosmetics are not subject to these restrictions. The mere pickup of pre-ordered goods is uncritical and widespread. On public ground you additionally need a special use permit. We support you with the technical implementation, but don't replace pharmacy-law advice from your chamber or a specialist lawyer.
Via the telemetry software, you see stock levels, sales and the interior temperature of each machine in real time on smartphone or desktop. With temperature-controlled goods in particular, this is decisive: if the cooling fails, you get an alarm immediately and sales are blocked automatically. This keeps the goods protected and you documentarily covered. We roll out software updates over the air, so an on-site visit isn't needed for that.
